Early Christmas present a gem
TV PRESENTER Rove McManus and his wife, actor Tasma Walton, welcomed their first child, daughter Ruby Aurelia McManus, in Sydney last Monday.
In a statement, the new parents said Ruby, 2.47kg, was due on January 2.
‘‘ While she arrived slightly earlier than expected, she is healthy and more importantly it means she’ll be here to spend Christmas with us, which is the best present you could wish for,’’ McManus, 39, said.
Declaring he’d already changed his first nappy, the comedian said: ‘‘I feel I have entered a new life that consists of mainly feeding and wiping. But I couldn’t be happier.’’
Walton, 40, said: ‘‘It’s still hard to believe she’s here. It was love at first sight. She is a beautiful, life-changing bundle.’’
McManus and Walton opted to go public with Ruby’s birth through social media and their management, instead of selling the story and pictures to a women’s magazine.
‘‘Aurelia means ‘golden’,’’ the couple said in yesterday’s statement.
