Kylie Voices her excitement

-

SHE’S never been a beach babe, making her name internationally as Australia’s most successful pop princess.

But Kylie Minogue has used a surfing metaphor to describe her incredible year of change and explain why now, after 20 years away from the local small screen, she decided to sign on to The Voice Australia and come home to ‘‘catch a wave’’.

In a rollercoaster 12 months which saw her switch up her career to join global music monolith Roc Nation, then split from her model boyfriend Andres Velencoso, Minogue told News Corp ‘‘it just felt like the right time’’ to commit to the Channel 9 talent show.

Working around the clock on the UK version of The Voice right now, Minogue will not make it home to her family for an Aussie Christmas, but is desperate to ‘‘reconnect’’ with them when she jets into Sydney for the show’s blind auditions next month — alongside new recruit will.i.am and returning coaches Ricky Martin and Joel Madden.
