Sophie Isabelle Hand

-

THERE wasn’t a squid safe anywhere in Darwin during Rya Hand’s pregnancy with little Sophie Isabelle. Dad Jason said he and Rya had dinner at Schooner’s in Cullen Bay ‘‘about 15 times’’ during the pregnancy. But it wasn’t just squid — long sour straps and bacon at the same time was also on the menu. Despite the hearty lead-up, Jason said being a parent was ‘‘awesome’’. ‘‘I couldn’t be happier.’’ Sophie is the couple’s first child. Jason said he hoped Sophie developed a love for maths, while Rya would likely get her into the arts. Sophie was born on November 27 at 3.03pm. She weighed 3.69kg.
