Monk living in fear of accused stalker
SINGER and actress Sophie Monk has become the first Australian celebrity to have an alleged cyber stalker charged with harrassing her on social media.
James McCabe allegedly bombarded the 34- year- old new face of 2Day FM with up to 150 sexually explicit and threatening posts on Twitter daily.
McCabe allegedly used his Twitter account to produce sometimes indecipherable rants over a five-year period in which he said he pursued Satan and told the actress and onetime singer to ‘‘pray pray pray’’. He also allegedly frequently spoke of ‘‘ saving’’ Monk during a sexually explicit onesided exchange.
Monk finally contacted police after McCabe allegedly made death threats towards her and a family member. The 30-year-old was arrested by police at his Tasmanian home earlier this month.
Monk confirmed a longheld fear of McCabe. ‘‘When I am in Australia, I sleep with the light on,’’ she said.
