Men’s rum attempt to steal alcohol
THREE people were caught red handed stealing booze from a Cavenagh Street bottle shop.
Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said two adults and a youth were arrested after police were notified at about 11.40pm on Friday that the men were on the premises.
“A number of males were observed lifting a roller door and obtaining entry,” she said.
“Police attended and located three males in the driveway area standing nonchalantly against the wall.
“Searching the males, police found two bottles of rum secreted in the leg of one of the male’s pants.
“CCTV was interrogated and it appears all the stolen alcohol has been recovered — six bottles of rum and two bottles of bourbon.
“Excellent job and a big thanks to members of the public who alerted us to the offence in a timely manner.”
