Footballer lands in ICU
A WA footballer injured in a bump in a game last weekend remains in the intensive care unit of a Darwin hospital.
The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was reportedly playing last Sunday near Halls Creek when he suffered a knock during the game.
Local police said there appeared to be no malice in the bump.
It is understood the man managed to leave the field unassisted but was later flown to Royal Darwin Hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
It is also understood he had emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.
A hospital spokesman said yesterday the man was still in the intensive care unit in a critical but stable condition.
