SKATERS ON BOARD AS KING OF STREET BID GETS ROLLING

-

DARWIN’S top skaters sweated it out yesterday as the first heat of the King of the Street competition kicked off at Jingili Skate Park.

Run by the City of Darwin, Shredability skate leagues and local skate store Proper, the initiative aimed to provide a fun opportunity for Darwin skaters to come together before the wet sets in.

Former Australian skateboarding champion Renton Millar said he was looking forward to coming to Darwin to help host the NT’s first King of Street. “Darwin has a good vibe for skating,” Mr Millar said.

Competitor Hannah Illingworth thought it was good there were a few female competitors.

“It’s not about being the best, it’s about having a good time,” she said.
