ALSO SHOWING
DEEPWATER HORIZON (M) A docu-disaster movie of a real-life catastrophe. If you wish to be educated, you’ll get the retrospective scoop on one of the biggest preventable man-made catastrophes of all time. If you wish to be entertained, there is plenty of Mark Wahlberg emoting manfully as a monster oil rig goes up in flames around him. THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN (MA15+) A perp on the turps? Or covering her tracks with a loco motive? In her few sober moments, Rachel must come to grips with one unavoidable fact. She is now both a prime suspect and key witness in a missing persons affair that could soon become a murder case. A catchy combo of sex, murder and shifting suspicions. THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (M) A cover version of the 1960 western smash hit, which is not quite as good, but has the bonus of Denzel Washington in fine form as leader of a motley crew, ably assisted by Chris Pratt’s wisecracking gunslinger Josh Faraday. STORKS (G) Storks have stopped delivering babies, they now only deliver parcels. Until someone makes a mistake and it’s red alert central. Some great parts, spoiled by some not-so-great parts. One for the kids. BRIDGET JONES’ BABY (M) Hapless Bridget is now 43 and still has no man and no plan. But after two random trysts — one with long-lost love Mark Darcy, one with dating app billionaire Jack Quant — her life is turned upside down when she falls pregnant, with no idea who the father is. Plenty of laughs follow the pregnancy and birth. BLAIR WITCH (MA15+) A group of youths head back to those oh-soscary woods that featured in the Blair Witch Project all those years ago to try and find out what really happened. Starts off slow, but picks up when we become sure night is falling for the very last time. THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS (G) A likeable, lightweight animation that gives an insight into what our pets get up to when no one’s home, coupled with a yarn about a needy Jack Russell and clueless Newfoundland who have become separated from their owner.
