Providing positive, meaningful education experience for all

-

CHILDREN are born ready to learn and the first few years of their life is when the foundations for their future are laid.

This is when their brain develops and much of its ‘hardwiring’ is put in place.

The experiences and relationships a child has, and their nutrition and health during this time, are critical.

Randall Cook, general manager of Child Australia, said education and care services and the educators that worked in them played a major role in the early development of many of the NT’s children.

“Child Australia is committed to developing the capacity of our early childhood education and care sector and families to support children’s wellbeing, learning and development and has been doing so for nearly three decades,” he said.

“The Northern Territory Education and Care Awards provide an opportunity to recognise, celebrate and share outstanding practice and practitioners and also serve to remind us all of the importance of this work.”

Mr Cook said Child Austra- lia originated the concept of recognising outstanding educators and services in 2010 and had been a proud supporter of the current Northern Territory Education and Care Awards since they commenced in 2013.

“Remember that for every nominee, finalist and award winner, there were hundreds more educators across the Northern Territory working hard to provide positive and meaningful education experiences for the children in their care,” he said.

“If you get the chance let them know it is appreciated.”
