WET IT’S WET, WET, AS THE BUILD UP BURSTS EARLY
THE Top End experienced some unseasonably cool weather yesterday.
Darwin recorded a top temperature of 25.8 degrees. The lowest October maximum on record was 24.7 in 2000.
Weather bureau senior forecaster Mark Kersemakers said the unusual weather was caused by a trough from the south that interacted with the Top End’s humid conditions and caused storms Friday night.
“Activity eased off and left showers and cloud that helped keep temperatures quite a bit cooler,” he said.
Matt Kenny and his son, James made the most of the cool change to wet a line at Nightcliff.
“It’s refreshing to have a bit of rain,” Mr Kenny said.
The bureau is predicting a return to sticky build-up conditions from today.
