NATALIE STEPHENSON, 28 ADAM MCKENZIE, 34

Natalie and Adam first met on a Sunday arvo at Monsoons in 2009. “Adam was wearing the world’s largest and ugliest pair of thongs I had seen and I had to let him know about it,” Natalie said. “He asked for my number and messaged me the next day to go on a date to Moorish cafe and it was all uphill from there.” Adam popped the question to a smitten Natalie while they were on holiday on the Gold Coast. “We had been at Sea World during the day and planned to go for dinner that night,” Natalie said. “Before we left for dinner, Adam called me out to the balcony — he gave me a hug and kiss before getting on his knee and proposing.” On July 23, family and friends gathered to watch the pair share their love with the world. Their celebrant, Brian Morgan, put a quirky spin on their love story and how they met, which had all the guests laughing. “We love fishing and Adam’s Groomsman Dave borrowed some fishing rods and made an archway out of fishing rods when we were greeting guests after the ceremony, which we loved,” Natalie said. The pair felt privileged to have Max Fredericks, a regular performer at the venue where they met, sing U2’s All I want is You for their first dance. “Adam does not dance, so this was a beautiful moment for me,” Natalie said. “Adam held me and we just winged it. It was a truly amazing.” The pair went on a mini-moon to Bali. The couple would like to thank the contribution of those who helped make the big day possible: Light up letters, Two Seasons decorating, and CakesNT.
