More people checking out Darwin open houses

-

HOUSEHUNTERS were out in force in the Territory yesterday as real estate agents opened the doors to dozens of people.

“I had a very busy day with seven open houses, and 20-25 groups going through them,” Raine and Horne real estate agent Adam Gulliford said.

“We’ve been keeping a tally over the past two years and it’s changed dramatically recently.

“Six weeks ago we were getting 1-1.4 people to each inspection, and now we’re getting 3-4. I had one a few weeks back where I arrived 10 minutes early to find eight people already waiting.”

Mr Gulliford said buyers seem to be particularly interested in the northern suburbs.

“I had a three-year-old apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and 2 carparks go live on Thursday and within 30 minutes I was getting inquiries,” he said.

But the housing market isn’t just picking up up north.

In Alice Springs First National Framptons sales manager Justin O’Brien said his team had a busy day yesterday.

“I had three or four groups through my houses, but one of our sales reps had nine at a property,” he said. “The numbers are definitely up on the last few months.”
