Sexual violence rally

-

THE annual Reclaim the Night protest drew crowds as women fought against sexual violence on Friday.

The global movement, which dates back to 1978, is held on the last Friday of October and pulls women from diverse backgrounds and experiences to speak out together against violence.

“Sexual violence is an abuse of power. Sexual violence is never the fault of the victim and I commend Samantha Chung and the staff at Ruby Gaea who champion this message and this event in Darwin,” Attorney General and Minister for Justice Natasha Fyles said. “This Government is developing a cross-government sexual assault response and prevention strategy … and is committed to delivering real improvements in service provision to victims and their long-term recovery, as well as what needs to be done in the prevention space.”
