Jameka given all clear for Cup start

-

A SECOND veterinary examination yesterday of Caulfield Cup winner Jameka has cleared the mare to run in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.

The mare shifted a plate during her work on Friday and the second examination was purely a precaution.

Racing Victoria’s chief steward Terry Bailey said Jameka was fine and had trot- ted up without any problem after first being inspected on Friday.

The Ciaron Maher-trained mare was among the final 32 Cup acceptors to undergo an examination to clear them for Tuesday’s $6.2 million race.

All the confirmed and potential runners were examined by Racing Victoria’s vets on Thursday and Friday.

All horses that compete in yesterday’s Lexus Stakes were also be inspected again before the 4.30pm acceptance deadline for the Melbourne Cup.

The 32 final acceptors, including Jameka, were declared suitable to race.

The compulsory inspections were done on Thursday and Friday on the current field of 24 horses.
