Santa set to make a splash at Casuarina pool

- PHILLIPPA BUTT

IT’S December and with that comes the annual Casuarina Pool Christmas Pool Party.

Running for its sixth year, the party was cancelled, as Darwin council voted to keep all Christmas celebrations in and around the CBD.

In order for the northern suburbs to still have an annual party, Richardson Ward aldermen Rebecca Want de Rowe, Jimmy Bouhoris and George Lambrinidis put their hands into their own pockets to fund the Christmas do, which they’re hoping will draw up to 500 people.

“It’s going to be a free community Christmas party, open to everyone,” Mr Bouhoris said.

Nine-year-olds Mila Bouhoris and Emily Penny said they were excited.

“Even if it rains we’ll still be going,” Mila said.

The party, complete with Santa, is from 10am to 2pm at the Casuarina Pool today.
