Serious radio rivalry?

MIX 104.9 breakfast radio presenter Ali Burton posted a photo on Instagram during the week of a group of colleagues, dubbing it the “Class of 2017”. The photo had a notable absentee — award-winning 360 jock Katie Woolf. There was no acknowledgment in Ali’s post about Katie being absent from the photo. It made Bushy wonder, is there an internal war as to who really is the Queen of Mix 104.9?

Wedding homecoming

NEWLYWEDS Chief Minister Michael Gunner and wife Kristy O’Brien are having a second celebration for friends in Darwin in early January. The couple, who are honeymooning in South America, exchanged wedding vows in Toowoomba last week in front of a small group of close family and friends. Apparently there wasn’t a ministerial colleague in sight but we predict the Darwin celebration will be a different story.

Old Vic whisper

THERE’S a whisper around town that the new owners of Shenannigans in Mitchell St are also casting an eye over the iconic Vic pub in the Mall. The focus will be on food not booze.

Worth the wait

GOOD and bad news for Darwin. The good news is we will host the 20th Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) National Housing Conference which is the largest conference of its kind in Australasia for social and affordable housing. The event attracts up to 1000 delegates from across Europe, America, Canada, Asia, New Zealand and around Australia. The bad news is it won’t be until August 2019.

Strange strategy

CLEARLY independent MLA Robyn Lam

bley is getting under the Government’s skin. Using the guise of defending Tourism Minis- ter Lauren Moss from Mrs Lambley’s calls for her sacking, her colleague Natasha “Minister for Bad News” Fyles issued an extraordinarily ugly spray full of vitriol attacking Mrs Lambley for being ageist, hypocritical, a dud who “wasn’t good at maths”, dumped as a CLP Minister, part of chaos and in fighting, funding cuts, increases in crime, midnight coups and a few other things. Ms Moss defended herself in the NT News but it made Bushy wonder why Fylesy issued a press release and not Moss. Also, where was acting chief Nicole Manison?

Griggs on cyclone alert

WHILE the Territory is yet to sight a cyclone former CLP Territory federal member Nata- sha Griggs has just gone through two cyclone alerts on the Christmas Islands where she is the new administrator.

Council parking perks?

Bushy hears ahead of the recent NT council mayors and CEOs meeting, instructions were given that attendees were allowed to park for free in the city to attend the meeting at Darwin council followed by Christmas lunch. Were parking inspectors given numberplates that would be exempted from parking fees?

Good onya, Ken

PRIMARY Industry Minister always wins lots of praise for his refreshing honesty. Rather than go for Government Ken Vowles spin on crime rates Ken said on radio this week that he thought his Government could be doing a better job in this area. He also gave a back-handed slap to Katherine saying there used to be a time he would just fuel up and get out of Katherine as quick as he could. These days it’s a world-class destination.

Merry Easter

It appears that Coles is already getting ahead of itself. In an email advertisement for its Christmas specials, the supermarket giant included the following: “Santa is dusting off this suit, the reindeer are in training for their epic flight, hot cross buns are almost in store and it’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Wrong season Coles!
