NT scholarships for school leavers
FORTY higher education scholarships are now available for Territory school leavers seeking to further their studies.
The scholarships, worth $5000 per year, assist Territory students in undertaking their first undergraduate degree.
The scholarship is paid for the minimum time it takes to complete the course at the fulltime study load of four units per semester or equivalent.
Last year more than 60 applications were received from students in Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs and Nhulunbuy. The scholarships are awarded by the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (or equivalent) to the top 40 eligible applicants.
The Bernie Kilgariff Memorial Scholarship, valued at $3000, is also available to assist an Alice Springs Year 12 school leaver undertaking tertiary studies in a medical or healthrelated field.
Executive Director of Workforce NT, Ms Catherine White, said the Northern Territory Government supports the next generation of Territory leaders to undertake further education.
“We want to ensure local people have the greatest prospects for job opportunities here in the Territory.
“By assisting Territorians, we are striving to improve the skills of the Territory’s workforce and encourage innovation, diversity and growth so that the Territory can develop economically and socially.’’
Applications close on March 9, 2018.
