Fundraiser a huge suc­cess

TER­RI­TO­RI­ANS have put their best shoe for­ward and raised close to $4000 for sui­cide preven­tion at a high tea and shoe sale at the Bar­bara James House.

With sup­port from Ter­ri­tory Ad­min­is­tra­tor Vicki O’Hal­lo­ran, the fam­ily of Dar­win teenager Sab­rina Di Lembo sold about 200 pairs of shoes at yes­ter­day’s fundraiser.

Sab­rina, 19, died by sui­cide last year. Her fam­ily are on a mis­sion to raise $100,000 for men­tal health or­gan­i­sa­tion the Black Dog In­sti­tute in her name.

Sab­rina’s mother Lidia said it was hum­bling to see Dar­win come out to sup­port their cause of re­duc­ing the stigma about men­tal health is­sues.

Shoes not sold yes­ter­day will be do­nated to the YWCA for their new op shop.

The di Lembo fam­ily are still fundrais­ing.
