Fundraiser a huge success
TERRITORIANS have put their best shoe forward and raised close to $4000 for suicide prevention at a high tea and shoe sale at the Barbara James House.
With support from Territory Administrator Vicki O’Halloran, the family of Darwin teenager Sabrina Di Lembo sold about 200 pairs of shoes at yesterday’s fundraiser.
Sabrina, 19, died by suicide last year. Her family are on a mission to raise $100,000 for mental health organisation the Black Dog Institute in her name.
Sabrina’s mother Lidia said it was humbling to see Darwin come out to support their cause of reducing the stigma about mental health issues.
Shoes not sold yesterday will be donated to the YWCA for their new op shop.
The di Lembo family are still fundraising.
