Murphy aims for finals
CARLTON captain Marc Murphy admits he thinks about playing in finals before his career ends as he weighs up his future.
Murphy, 30, is out of contract at the end of this year and is in negotiations with the Blues about a two-year extension.
Murphy, who hopes to return next week after missing a month with a foot injury, said yesterday he wants to stay at the Blues but playing finals again was a motivating factor.
“Obviously, I want to play finals footy and it’s something I’m striving for, but hopefully I can do that at the Carlton footy club,” he said.
Murphy said he had thought about the legacy of players like former Richmond captain Chris Newman, who set the Tigers on the path to success but retired before they claimed the premiership.
