Bloody freezing weather to get colder

Sunday Territorian - - NEWS -

DID you feel the cold yesterday?

You haven’t lost the plot — although the thermometer read 24.4C at 8.30am yesterday, Darwin dropped to a borderline Arctic apparent temperature of just 18.3C.

The apparent temperatures hovered around 20C for most of the morning.

And it’s going to get even colder during the week.

A minimum of 20C is forecast for today.

Monday will drop to 19C before the temperature is predicted to plunge to 18C on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Humpty Doo will be even colder, with minimums of 15C forecast.

Luckily for thin-blooded Top Enders, the maximum temperature is expected to sit at a more palatable 31C or 32C throughout the week.

While Darwin, Palmerston and rural area residents replace their thongs with snow boots and bring their winter singlets out of storage as they brace for an imminent wintry doom, those living in Alice Springs will stoically face down a minimum of 1C with frosts forecast today.

The minimum will then increase to 2C tomorrow before reaching a balmy 4C later in the week.

Alice Springs is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 20C today.
