DARWIN GIRL SIZES UP NATIONAL STAGE

- JUDITH AISTHORPE

CHELSI Bakaric hopes by taking to the stage for the Miss Supercars Sport Model Search Contest she can show others that you don’t have to be a size six to be beautiful.

The 23-year-old business analyst will follow in the footsteps of Darwin lass Sophie Budack who took home the crown last year.

Ms Bakaric said she hoped to be crowned Miss Supercars as she loved the racing lifestyle.

“I know the other girls have a lot of experience in modelling and cars. It would be great to show Australia that you don’t have to be a size six to win this,” she said.

“I would also like to visit supercar competitions around Australia and to see that lifestyle.”

She was inspired to enter in the competition after seeing the fun her friend Ms Budack had had in the role.

But it wasn’t until she received an email saying she had made the top 100 that things got serious.

After making the top 26 through a public voting round she’ll take to the stage over the GC600 on the Gold Coast between October 19 and 21.

She will be competing for a share in a $20,000 prize pool, experience a Supercars Xtra Magazine photo shoot on track, Bali accommodation, sponsored prizes, cash, Supercars mentor program, red-carpet Supercars gala and various Supercars round experiences.
