NEWS SA uses NT site as lure

SOUTH Australia is using images of the Territory to promote a tourist road trip, prompting suggestions the Territory has better places to visit than its southern states.

The image of Bitter Springs in Elsey National Park near Katherine popped up in a promoted Instagram post by the SATC advertising the Explorer’s Way, a road trip from Darwin to Adelaide on the Stuart Hwy. The same image is being used in NT Boundless Possible advertising.

While Tourism NT and SATC have signed an agreement to share digital and social media, NT Acting Tourism Minister Nicole Manison said it was clear the Territory was the place to visit.

“If you want to swim in the crystal-clear waters of Bitter Springs, come to Elsey National Park,” she said.

“If you want to see one onethird of Australia’s bird species in one place, come to Kakadu. If you want to be awestruck by our ancient and spiritual Red Centre, come to Uluru.

“The spiritual heart of Australia’s outback is here in the Territory … but thanks South Australia for pointing everyone our way.”

SA Tourism Minister David Ridgway said SA and the Northern Territory had a long history of working together and the Territory was welcome to use pictures of SA as well to “drive tourism to both destinations.”
