to South America, with Peru a destination they would never forget. After seven hours of trekking the couple arrived at the Sun Gate, the entrance to the ancient city Macchu Pichu, where Vaughn pulled out a ring and proposed. Completely unprepared, Ashlee was overcome with emotions with the incredible view and arrival at their destination adding to the magic of the moment. Returning to Darwin, the couple got married in St Mary’s Cathedral in the heart of the city, where the they showed their guests their wedding rings and made everyone smile. A reception held at the picturesque George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens in front of family and friends completed the perfect day. RICHARD BALDOCK, 34 RACHEL BALDOCK (LOW), 28

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 18 Originally meeting on Tinder, Richard and Rachel had their first date in Cullen Bay when Rachel picked Richard up from footy training and the two shared a drink on the lawns outside the Cullen Bay fish and chip shop. Richard invited Rachel to his footy grand final in 2015 and she proved a lucky omen with Richard playing his role in a winning team. Fast-forward a few years and Richard made his first of two proposals. “The actual proposal was on New Year’s Day just after midnight in 2017 after a few too many beverages,” Richard said. “I was in my footy shorts and no shirt, at our engagement party I asked her nicely with some written words and the actual ring which I didn’t have on New Year’s.” Regardless, Rachel was smart enough to say yes twice. The couple decided Bali would be a great place for an intimate wedding and a holiday away bringing friends from Rachel’s native state Victoria and Richard’s friends from home in the NT, along with others from all across the country. Now they are very much looking forward to their honeymoon next year where they plan to go to New Zealand. “It was obviously a wedding but not so much a holiday — it was a bit stressful,” Richard said. The couple now have the perfect “blended family” as they each brought children from previous partners. Isaiah, Chloe, Maison and twins Harper and Indiara make the family whole and they all get along like a house on fire.
