Premiums set to rise

-

HEALTH fund premium increases will exceed inflation again next year, rising by an average 2.9 per cent in April.

It will be the lowest rise in 18 years but comes at a price with many fund members losing benefits for key procedures like private births.

The hike will cost a family around $130 a year and singles $60 a year and will surpass the inflation rate by 50 per cent. Private Healthcare Australia CEO Dr Rachel David said: “Further reform of this sector is critical if it is going to remain safe and affordable.”
