A STRONG season is forecast with 75 cruise ship arrivals planned to visit Darwin, providing a huge tourism boost for Darwin city.

The cruise sector brings $87.6 million a year to the local economy.

This season three new ships will visit our waters: the Viking Orion, the Seabourn Encore and the Explorer of the Seas.

Tourism Top End (TTE) general manager Glen Hingley said key stakeholders were always looking to bring more ships to Darwin.

“With a fantastic harbour facility and invigorated tour- ism industry, TTE sees the future of cruise ship arrivals into Darwin continuing to be a growing boom for the economy of the Top End,” he said.
