Cops pounce on illegal hunters
NORTHERN Territory Police have received numerous complaints about illegal goose shooting in the rural area.
Police investigations have resulted in compliance action, including fines and seizures of wildlife taken illegally.
Hunters need appropriate permits in order to hunt legally. Permits are given out by Parks, Wildlife and Heritage.
In addition to hunting permits, shooters must have a cur- rent firearms licence and ensure that their firearms are registered. Failure to do so can result in court appearances, on-the-spot fines and the seiz- ure of firearms.
