Redbacks bank on swing

-

SOUTH Australia is hopeful reverse swing can be its greatest ally as it tries to break through Sydney in what has been a batsman’s paradise at the SCG for the first two days of a Sheffield Shield match between the Redbacks and the Blues.

The Redbacks entered yesterday at 5-315 after some big hitting on day one but were bowled out for 380.

A highlight was the un- beaten ton from Australian short-form vice-captain Alex Carey, who put together 130 runs for the sixth wicket with Tom Cooper before the rot began.

What transpired suggests the bottom order could not have questioned the conditions. NSW openers Nick Larkin (109) and Daniel Hughes (105) could not look more settled, trailing by 157 runs at stumps.
