‘Statesmanship’
THE Northern Territory’s favourite statesman-in-exile Adam Giles took to the airways in Sky News this week bemoaning the state of modern politics. “In years gone by, I would say with political leaders, there was a lot more statesmanship in politics. Since then that’s certainly eroded,” he said. The man who knifed Terry Mills then went on, in turn, to bemoan leaders “tearing down” other leaders. “It’s no wonder democracy is suffering,” he said. Giles has denied reports he will stand for One Nation in Victoria, probably because he considers himself too much of a statesman to join Pauline Hanson’s rabble.
