Fireworks tipped for Sydney Smash

Sunday Territorian - - SPORT -

THE Sixers and Thunder players might be the best of mates off the field but when bragging rights at stake in the Sydney Smash, the gloves come straight off and no-one can resist lobbing a little grenade into the other camp.

With this season’s first blockbuster derby taking place at Spotless Stadium on Christmas Eve, both teams are desperate to give their opponents a stuffing a day before their holiday feast.

“Every derby is huge for use, we love getting on top of the Sixers,” Thunder captain Shane Watson said.

“We are definitely all good mates but once we cross the line we’re very keen to get on the right side of the ledger and Christmas Eve won’t be any different.”

The previous two Sydney Smashes have both been lastball thrillers and Sixers’ skipper Moises Henriques is expecting another cliffhanger.
