BELLE ARTSTART COMPETITIO­N

Belle ArtStart is back for a fourth year and they’re looking for Australia’s next wave of creative talent. Open to emerging painters aged 16-25 years, the major prize is $10,000, 2nd prize $5000 and 3rd prize $2500, as well as exposure at the ArtStart Melbourne event, where all submission­s will be exhibited and available for sale. Entries close February 8. $50

SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN DAYS

Keep the kids entertaine­d at these family fun days with giant bubble fun, big splash and blue lagoon waterslide­s, sailing and surf lifesaving, scratch art, dancing and instrument­s, LEGO play, playdough, crafting an underwater fish and coral scene and more. 9am to 12pm at the Darwin Waterfront. KEEPER KIDS

Learn what it takes to become a Territory Wildlife Park Zoo Keeper at this special hands-on day, designed for kids aged 8-12 years old. 9am to 3pm at the Territory Wildlife Park. $115

MIDAWARR/HARVEST: MULKUN WIRRPANDA AND JOHN WOLSELEY

Immerse yourself in a vast Arnhem Land floodplain and lose yourself in a forest of bark paintings, in an ambitious and beautiful cross-cultural collaborat­ion between renowned landscape artist John Wolseley and the great Yolnju artist, Mulkun Wirrpanda. The touring exhibition was developed by the National Museum of Australia. 10am to 5pm at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. FREE

GET THAT JOB - ONLINE PORTFOLIOS

How do you squish everything about yourself down into a two page resume? It can be really hard to showcase your skills in a typical resume especially when you’re a bit creative. Online portfolios are a great way to share your work with employers, teachers and lecturers and family and friends. Book in if you are thinking an online portfolio might be a great way to help you stand out from the crowd. For ages 14-25 only. 10.30am to 12pm at the City Library. FREE

SPIDERS

It’s time to face your fears and dance with a peacock spider, or hang out with some social huntsman at the newest interactiv­e exhibition. 10am to 5pm at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. $16

SUNDAY, JANUARY 13

AQUA FITNESS IN THE WAVE LAGOON

Take a splash each Sunday morning with an aqua fitness class in the Wave Lagoon at the Darwin Waterfront. A dedicated instructor will guide you through a body conditioni­ng, pool based aerobic program. Program is suitable for all fitness levels including beginners. 8.30am to 9.15am at the Darwin Waterfront. $12
