$850k for language projects
THE Coalition Government has promised to deliver $850,000 to fund projects in the Northern Territory through the Indigenous Languages and Arts program.
Outgoing CLP Minister for Indigenous Affairs Nigel Scullion announced the funding yesterday with candidates Jacinta Price and Kathy Ganley.
Ms Price said the Alice Springs-based Institute for Aboriginal Development Aboriginal Corporation would receive $200,000 for its Arandic Creative Writing Collaborative project and the Indigenous Remote Communications Association Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation would receive $197,680 to expand the indigi TUBE content.
The Artists of Ampilatwatja Aboriginal Corporation would receive $97,000 to create Banjo Morton: The Untold Story: an interactive digital multimedia project in Alyawarr language.
The Milingimbi Outstations Progress Resource Association would use $88,000 to create an Yolngu Sign Language App and Children’s Ground Limited will receive $88,830 for its Anwerne Ingkerrekele Mpwareke project that will create a series of multilingual picture books and language apps.
