Fish attack on Joyce

-

BARNABY Joyce became the latest target of the “new nastiness” in Australian politics yesterday when dead fish were hung below a defaced campaign poster in the main street of Tamworth.

The attack on the former deputy prime minister in his seat of New England came just days after Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s posters were defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti and amid bizarre claims that a Liberal supporter’s dog was shot and placed beneath a campaign sign on their front lawn.

The images of Mr Joyce’s defaced poster hung from a bridge in Tamworth were sent to media yesterday from a string of email addresses. In the photos, a sign pointed to his poster and the dead fish saying “the stench of corrupt politicians”. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said: “I think there has been a lot of these very unfortunate and unwelcome incidents during the campaign.”
