2019 SENIORS EXPO ADVERTISING FEATURE Scheme lends support

-

THE NT Seniors Recognition Scheme was introduced on July 1, 2018 to recognise the valuable contribution senior Territorians make to the community.

Residents who are 65 years or older are eligible to receive an annual payment of $500 to use towards the cost of travel, electricity and/or water.

Members who choose to use the payment for travel overseas, interstate or within the Northern Territory will receive travel vouchers.

The travel vouchers can also be used by a member for private vehicle travel or used to bring a relative or friend to visit the member in the Territory.

It is important that members of the NT Seniors Recognition Scheme who have unused travel vouchers issued in 2018-19 use them before they expire on June 30 2019.

Members who do not intend to use their travel vouchers can change their preference and have the payment put on their electricity or water account. Members who want to change their preference must do so by May 31, 2019.

Members who book their own travel, must have completed the travel and submitted their manual reimbursement claim by 30 June this year.

If members are booking through an Approved Vendor, the booking musts be made before June 30 2019 and the travel vouchers redeemed but the travel can occur after this time as the payment has is applied at the time of booking and within the financial year.
