Come and try unloading on a toad
SHOOTING Australia has a nationwide program through the month of May for novices to go along to their local shotgun, rifle or pistol club and try those sporting disciplines. All of these disciplines provide competition up to World Championship standard.
It was disappointing to see Gun Control Australia attacking both major parties during the recent election campaign for providing funds through grants to get people active and into a sport people of all sizes, stature, age, ability and gender can participate in.
Darwin Rifle club held a Ladies Day last weekend and NT Field and Game will be holding a massive two-day extravaganza thanks to the support of Coolalinga Guns & Ammo.
On Saturday, June 1 and 2 all ladies, families, juniors, novices and experienced shooters are invited to come along to the range and try clay target shooting.
There will be coaching provided by exOlympian, George Barton from Beretta as well
as other qualified coaches.
There will be more than 30 shotguns of all makes and models for people to try.
If you are considering an upcoming purchase this is a fantastic opportunity to handle the gun and see how well you can shoot with it.
Prizes to the value of $4000 will be awarded for hitting lucky Flash targets thrown randomly at the five separate stations.
Game food will be available to try and light refreshments available.
Sunday will see one of the biggest events NT Field and Game has ever held with a further $20,000 in prizes to be won in grades and with randomly thrown Flash targets again.
Such is the rise in popularity in shooting that the Darwin branch of SSAA are also holding a Ladies Day shooting event raising funds for ovarian cancer on Saturday at their range.

The NT Field and Game clay target range at the Mickett Creek Shooting Complex is open for practice on Fridays at 4pm till 9pm.
