Freshie bites man’s leg in sneak attack
AN 18-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being attacked by a freshwater crocodile at Marrakai on Friday night.
The 2.5m freshie snuck up on the victim near Corroboree Billabong about 6pm, biting him on the leg.
The man was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with minor lacerations to the leg and yesterday was in a stable condition.
St John’s Ambulance duty manager Craig Garraway said it was believed the man was about 30m away from the river’s edge at the time of the attack.
“Reports are that the freshie came from behind and grabbed the man’s leg out in the Marrakai area,” Mr Garraway said.
