NOVA PERIS GETS REALITY CHECK ON SURVIVOR

-

TERRITORY Olympian and ex-Labor senator Nova Peris says her “very good” social skills and “relentless” determination mean she has what it takes to win this year’s Australian Survivor.

Ms Peris is one of a handful of well-known “champions” who will take on a competing tribe of “contenders” in this year’s season of the hit reality show, which was filmed in Fiji.

“Of course I think I can win. I have had to get along with people my whole life. My social skills are very good and I’m mentally tough,” Ms Peris said. “Nothing much fazes me. “Champions win because there is something in them that says we’re not going to lay down and die.”

Others confirmed to be competing for the title of Australian Survivor include Boost Juice founder Janine Allis, former NRL star Andrew Ettingshausen, underdog speed skater Steven Bradbury, long-distance swimmer Susie Maroney and big wave surfer Ross Clarke-Jones.

Honorary Territorian and Adelaide Crows AFLW footballer Abbey Holmes is also rumoured to be joining the cast, but this has not yet been confirmed by Ten.

The network has also announced some of the everyday “contenders” competing against the champions, including cleaner Sarah Ayles, 45.

Australian Survivor won’t be Ms Peris’ first foray into reality television – she appeared on weight loss program Celebrity Overhaul in 2004. Australian Survivor will screen later this year.
