The funding will protect the property’s heritage value and commemorate Mr Hawke’s life and achievements.

Mr Hawke, who died at his Sydney home two days before the May 18 federal election, aged 89, was born in 1929 at the Bordertown property.

The childhood home of Bob Hawke in Bordertown, South Australia, will be preserved for the nation following the pledge of $750,000 to be announced today by Prime Minister Scott Morrison
