‘Sore’ Dan misses a week

-

ST KILDA have opted against playing star recruit Dan Hannebery in today’s AFL match against North Melbourne.

Hannebery finally returned to the AFL in Round 14 after being dogged by injury earlier this year and had also played two VFL games.

Yet, former Sydney midfielder Hannebery was taken out of the squad on Friday, with Jack Newnes to take his place.

“It was always part of the plan that Dan would need a break at some point after an initial block of games and, with a bit of soreness lingering after the Richmond match, it made sense to do it this week,” Saints’ performance manager Matt Hornsby said.

“He was able to get through our main training on Thursday, but we feel that missing this weekend is the best approach.”
