Darwin Cup Carnival off to a fashionable start

-

THE Great Northern Darwin Cup Carnival kicked off this weekend with the Hot100 Guineas Race Day.

It is Dominika Sydney’s second Darwin Cup Carnival season.

She relished the fashions on display and the excitement in the crowds.

“The Turf Club is a special place,” Ms Sydney said. “Everyone, especially ladies, try to look their best. It’s a place we can see a fashion show.

“In this kind of activity people are happy and having fun, it’s a place where you can relax.”

Ms Sydney is eager to attend the Ladies’ Day event on July 17 and, until the day, will be scoping out Darwin fashions for the perfect ensemble.

“I always prefer red but I don’t know if it’s a good decision this year,” she said.

“Every year there’s a different style.

“I have to check out what’s famous in this area.

“I love the fashion and always try to look my best.”

Ms Sydney uses a simple strategy when picking the winning horse, which she hopes will pay off.

“I always try to look for names that are exciting for me,” she said.

The next Darwin Cup Carnival event is the Chief Minister’s Cup Day on July 13.
