Penrith go for eight wins in a row

-

NATHAN Cleary was just a five-year-old when Penrith went on a club-record eightgame winning run en route to their last NRL premiership in 2003.

Sixteen years on Cleary and the Panthers will be aiming to at least equal the streak when they host Canberra today.

“I was five when they did that, so it feels pretty weird when you think about it,” Cleary said.

“It’d be nice to get out there and equal that record, but at the moment we’re just trying to play good footy like (last week) and keep improving.”

Cleary described last week’s rout of St George Illawarra as one of his most enjoyable nights of the season after the Panthers racked up a seasonhigh 40 points.

It beat their previous high of 24 set the week before against Gold Coast, indicating just how much the Panthers have struggled in attack this year.
