Toll holding its packages

A COCONUT Grove resident is eagerly awaiting a new battery package he bought off EBay from Sydney and thanks to the magic of online technology, the man has been able to track his package the whole way, five days from Sydney to Darwin. However, the tracking device may result in a not so pleasant conversation with Toll Holdings, which supposedly has been in possession of the battery package at its Darwin depot for the past 10 days – double the time it took to travel across half the country. Talk about service.

Sprinkler timing diabolical

DARWIN’S rally for Kumanjayi Walker had an unpleasant interruption during the week, with sprinklers going off in the middle of proceedings. With emotions and tensions already at a high, the crowds got increasingly agitated suggesting the stunt was done on purpose by the Government, which had supposedly indicated to the group State Square would be the best place for them to hold any protest or rally. Whether it was a stunt or a mistake, it’s fair to say no work was done in rebuilding relationships by the poorly timed sprinklers.

Ganley alliance a chance

SPOTTED deep in conversation at the annual dinner of the Australian Institute of Company Directors on Thursday night was the leader of the new Territory Alliance party

Terry Mills and former CLP candidate for the Federal seat of Solomon Kathy Ganley.

There has been much speculation about whether Ganley will put her hand up for the CLP at next year’s Territory election. Plenty are wondering why it hasn’t already happened. Maybe this is why.

Release out of its league

WE all make mistakes, but Bushie couldn’t help but have a chuckle after reading this media release from the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture Lauren Moss’ office. The headline read ... “Hottest 7s Rugby League Kicks Off At Marrara This Weekend”. Yes, the tournament is at our state-of-the-art brand new rugby league stadium. But it’s sevens rugby union, not league, as it correctly said further down in the media release.

Fay jumps Brolga gun

THE normally sharp-as-a-tack Katherine Mayor Fay Miller had a minor brain fade last week when posting on Facebook her dismay that she couldn’t find any of the winners of this year’s prestigious NT tourism Brolga Awards. Readers will see that the awards were in fact last night and all the winners appear in today’s Sunday Territorian. And what a bunch of winners they are! Congratulations!

Keep on truckin’, Bouta

ONE of the best Territorians on Twitter has to be ‘ Bouta’. The knockabout truckie from somewhere around Humpty Doo makes some hilarious commentary on the social media network. He’s a typical Territorian. Loves his wife and kids, loves his pigging dogs, loves hunting and loves fishing. And, of course, he loves beer. His favourite drop is Great Northern which he affectionately calls ‘Greg Normans’. Follow him @bouta—nt
