Double recycling cash on offer

-

DARWIN recyclers have the chance to double their money from returned drink containers this week with waste management company TOMRA running a limited-time offer to mark a collection milestone.

The standard 10 cent refund for returned drink containers at TOMRA’s Coconut Grove recycling centre will be increased to 20 cents from January 14 to 17 as a celebration of the facility reaching over 4.5 million container returns since opening.

Residents can take advantage of the deal by returning eligible cans and bottles to the TOMRA recycling centre on 11 Tang St within the four-day window.

TOMRA Collection Solutions Australia president

Ryan Buzzell said the company had received a “hugely positive response” from the Darwin public since opening its fully automated recycling centre last July.

In a separate initiative, until February 23 recyclers at the centre can also raise money for bushfire-affected Australian communities by selecting on machines Bottles for the Bush.
