Jarrad takes a step down

FORMER AFL player Jarrad Waite found himself playing Division One NTFL last weekend – quite the step down from the heights of the AFL comp he played in just two seasons ago. Bad blisters thanks to new boots kept Waite out of the St Mary’s Premier League team but with flights already booked, Waite plied his trade from the goalsquare in Div 1, kicking two majors for the day. Lasting less than three minutes before his first spell on the bench, his immediate replacement was another former AFL player and St Mary’s stalwart Raph Clarke, returning from an ankle injury. The ex-AFL talent wasn’t enough to get the St Mary’s outfit over the line proving fly-ins and big names won’t always bring home the bacon.
