Improving lives with top tucker

-

WOMEN from the Binjari community are cooking up a healthy storm in a program run by NT Health.

The Binjari Cooking and Nutrition Class is teaching women in the Binjari community valuable tips on nutritional literacy and how to design healthy menus for family meals.

Katherine public health nutritionist Hannah Lanham said it’s important for Territorians to maintain a proper weight by developing a healthy diet.

“It’s important for all Territorians to recognise the link between unhealthy dietary patterns and chronic disease,” Ms Lanham said.

“So, if we can help people understand what a healthy diet looks like along with the food skills to develop the right diet it is one way to address chronic disease.”

Meals have been designed around bush tucker and popular local recipes.
