The law’s on song

-

LOCAL Court judge John Neill revealed a taste for country music this week after he was told a defendant had started drinking again in the morning after a big night on the sauce. “The beer I had for breakfast wasn’t bad, so I had one more for dessert,” he said. Ironically, Bushie’s spies couldn’t help but notice the learned judge’s quote came from a song by legendary “outlaw country” singer/ songwriter and member of the supergroup The Highwaymen, Kris Kristofferson. In the same song, Kristofferson goes on to lament that he’s “wishing, Lord, that I was stoned”, a sentiment no doubt shared by many of those who find themselves in Mr Neill’s courtroom.
