THE great Scot has already announced his retirement from stand-up comedy – at 77 and living with Parkinson’s disease, it’s hard to see him doing too many more of his wonderful travelogue shows, which makes this 2019 jaunt around the USA even more of a treat. After visiting the Big Apple and Boston in last week’s episode (available to stream on 7plus), the Big Yin continues his journey finding football fans in Kearny, New Jersey, and Al Capone’s old cell in Philadelphia’s terrifying Eastern State Penitentiary. But it’s the look of awe and wonder when he plays a guitar that once belonged to his hero, Hank Williams, at the Martin Guitar factory that’s a real reminder of why he’s been such a delightful travelling companion for so many years.
