Not All Heroes Wear Capes

- JOSIAH WESTBROOK

Before self-isolation and social distancing, there were jobs that would often go unnoticed, and certain roles within our communities that were an oversight. Now, some services are even considered essential for our own health and wellbeing, those that make our lives easier in more ways than one. As we adapt to this pandemic, these roles are needed now more than ever. mothers and maternal figures.

New responsibilities have been added to their already elaborate job description. Now, they are resident teachers, transforming living rooms into classrooms, responsible for teaching children from home. They are already nurses and paramedics, the first on the scene, For some, they are counsellors and therapists for comfort, encouragement and advice. For others, ther are pharmacists and physicians for every symptom under the sun. They are hairdressers, private transportation, bankers and personal loan officers, and they are on duty 24/7.
