Ferns hopes for flying start at Winnellie Park

-

ONE of the highlights of tonight’s bumper 11-race card at the Winnellie Park greyhounds is the race-one Sage Contracting Dash for the open sprinters over 383m.

One of Darwin’s premier trainers, Graeme Ferns, will be hoping to start the night off well. He has the flying Gus The Weapon engaged, and one of his main dangers is kennelmate Hawk Glide.

Chris Blackman will be looking to upset the party as he has Zipping Amy and Fabulous Chance in the race, and both are capable of keeping the Ferns pair honest.

He only has a small kennel but Greg Milne is having a good time of it of late. And again tonight, Fuse Box in race three over 312m and Candy Paint in race five over 383m are leading contenders.

Other notable chances include Prior Warning for Leta Smith, who appears to have the class edge on some of her opposition over 312m, Aeroplane Rose is racing consistently for Graeme Scott and is right in the mix in race four, and to finish the program the Ron Phillips-trained Night Charm has drawn nicely and is in good form. First race is at 6.47pm NT time, with all races televised live on Sky Channel.
