Perth surgeon new AMA boss
THE Australian Medical Association has a new boss with Dr Omar Khorshid elected to replace outgoing president Dr Tony Bartone.
Dr Khorshid, an orthopaedic surgeon in Perth, won the ballot on Saturday, beating Queensland respiratory specialist Dr Chris Zappala.
“Tony Bartone has been magnificent and tireless in his work to support the health and wellbeing of the people of Australia,” Deputy Chief Medical Officer Professor Michael Kidd said.
“We all owe him a huge debt of gratitude.”
