Quartet of events highlights top talent
THREE favourite Territory events are being joined by a newcomer this year as August turns into a celebration of Indigenous art, fashion, design and music.
Throughout this month, the NT will host the inaugural National Indigenous Fashion Awards, the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Art Awards ceremony, Salon des Refuses (an art exhibition showcasing works submitted but not accepted into the NATSIAAs) and the National Indigenous Music Awards.
NT Major Events CEO Tim Watsford said all the events would also be accessible online. “The Territory is at the heart of Australia’s Aboriginal culture. We have an incredible pool of talented Aboriginal artists, designers and musicians right here, and the work of many of them will feature in these benchmark events,” he said.
